Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account: your name and email. We sign you in with an email link, so there's no password to store.
• RSVPs: name, email, phone (if given), how many are coming, dietary notes and allergies, and what you're bringing to a potluck. For kids' gatherings, each child's first name, age and allergies, given by their parent or guardian.
• Hosting: your gathering's details, guest list, and the messages you send guests.
• Spaces and vendors: listings, addresses, photos, prices, and calendar links you connect.
• Payments: Stripe handles card details. We keep the amount, whether it's paid, and a payment reference for refunds.
• Gifts: how much you pledged and whether you say you've given. The gift itself goes to the cause, not through us.

Who sees what

• Anyone with the invite link: the gathering's details, the host's first name, and guests' first names and potluck dishes.
• The host: each guest's name, email, phone, how many are coming, notes, allergies, payment and gift status.
• Guests: the exact address, only once your RSVP is confirmed (and paid, if guests are sharing the cost), plus messages from the host on your RSVP page.
• Space owners and vendors: the host's name, the date, the headcount and what's needed. Not guests' contact details.

How we use it

To run gatherings: confirmations, reminders, the address, host messages, payments, refunds, payouts and recaps. To keep HostGood safe and fix problems. We don't sell your information or use it for outside advertising.

Services we rely on

• Supabase stores our data and signs you in.
• Stripe processes card payments and payouts.
• Resend sends our emails.
• Railway hosts the app.

Each one only gets what it needs to do its job.

Children

HostGood is for adults. We only hold children's details that a parent or guardian gives us for a gathering's safety, and we never market to children.

Your browser

We store a small amount in your browser to keep you signed in and remember whether you've used HostGood before. We don't use advertising trackers.

Keeping and deleting

We keep records while your account is open and as long as payment and tax rules require. Ask us and we'll delete your account and personal details, apart from what the law says we must keep.
