Terms of use

Last updated October 19, 2026

HostGood helps people plan gatherings: the invite, the place, the food, the money and a cause. These terms are the deal between you and HostGood when you use it.

1. Who does what

HostGood is a tool and a marketplace. We don't run the gatherings. Each gathering is organized by its host. A space is offered by its owner, and food or activities by independent vendors. Gifts go to the cause the host picks.

You must be 18 or older to create an account, host, list a space or pay. Children can attend gatherings with a parent or guardian who RSVPs for them.

2. Hosts

  • You're responsible for your gathering: who you invite, what happens there, and that it's legal where it takes place.
  • Follow the space's house rules, its guest cap and its end time. Open-invite parties advertised to the public aren't allowed.
  • Every gathering at a space booked on HostGood also follows these gathering rules: a planned gathering for your guest list, not a party; no public or ticketed events, and no posting the address; arrive and leave within the booked hours; no smoking or vaping indoors; alcohol only if the home allows it; treat the home as you'd want yours treated.
  • At kids' gatherings, a named grown-up is responsible for every child the whole time.
  • For potlucks, ask guests to list what's in their dish. You can't guarantee food other people bring is free of allergens, and neither can we.
  • If you collect money by Venmo, it goes straight to you. Refunds of Venmo payments are between you and your guests.

3. Guests

  • You attend at your own risk. Follow the host's and the space's rules.
  • Tell the host about allergies and dietary needs when you RSVP. Food at a gathering may be made by other guests or by vendors, and may contain allergens.
  • You're responsible for any damage you cause to the space.

4. Space owners

  • Only list a space you have the right to rent for gatherings. Check your lease, HOA, local zoning and short-term rental rules, your insurance, and the rules of any other site you list on.
  • Describe the space honestly: capacity, price, rules, whether it suits kids, and its photos.
  • You decide whether to approve each booking. Once you approve, honor it, or tell the host as early as you can.
  • Payouts are sent through our payment provider, Stripe, after the gathering, less the fee shown when you list.

5. Vendors

  • You confirm you hold the licenses, permits and insurance your work requires, including food-handling rules.
  • Activity vendors at kids' gatherings must be background-checked.
  • Payouts are sent through Stripe after the gathering, less the fee shown when you apply.

6. Payments, fees and refunds

  • Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Any fee is shown before you pay or list. Hosting is free.
  • If you paid a host and can't make it, or the host cancels, any refund is between you and the host.
  • If a host cancels, card payments are refunded automatically.

7. Gifts to causes

A gathering's cause is a fundraiser on GoFundMe, LaunchGood or GlobalGiving, or the donation page of a charity HostGood has checked, that the host links. When you pledge a gift, you give it on that platform, under its own terms. HostGood doesn't take a cut, doesn't hold the money and can't guarantee how the fundraiser uses it. Any receipt comes from the platform or the organizer.

8. Messages and content

You're responsible for what you post or send through HostGood: invites, photos, messages to guests and listings. Don't post anything illegal, hateful, harassing or misleading, or anything you don't have the right to share. We may remove content or close accounts that break these terms.

9. Our responsibility

HostGood is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for injury, loss or damage at a gathering, or for what hosts, guests, owners, vendors or causes do. If we are found responsible for something, our liability is limited to the fees you paid HostGood in the 12 months before.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Using HostGood after that means you accept the new terms.
